With the recent news that Marine Diesel is to increase due to the TAX exemption being lifted, the option of LPG has become a very popular choice for many enthusiastic boat owners. The advantages are obvious when you compare the prices of Marine LPG to Diesel and Petrol. It would only take the average boat owner 1-2 seasons to make the conversion pay for itself as illustrated on our Advantages to Marine LPG page. With many of the major harbours in the UK and Europe having LPG on supply at the pontoon its understandable why its becoming a very popular alternative to expensive petrol and soon to be expensive diesel. If you trailer your boat you have the advantage of going to your local garage that supplies LPG to fill the boat. All conversions include addaptors for either Marine LPG pumps or standard Forecourt Pumps.
Everyone knows that owning a boat is not the cheapest thing in the world. Service, maintenance, mooring, storing and FUEL. There are many advantages to having petrol engines in boats, for example the power to weight ratio, smoother opperation and the relative quiet compared to diesels. But thier demand for fuel is insatiable. The obvious solution would be to instal a diesel engine but to retain power equvilent to the petrol engine would mean having to instal a much larger and heavier diesel engine. Not only is this dificult in most boats as they tend to be limited for space but the cost to re-power a boat far outways the benefits gained. As mentioned above the price advantage of Red Diesel is soon to be lost.
